I just reread James Dao's article about bloggers in the suck (Afghanistan) and he said I was always profane. Which I most certainly am. And I've got more than a little bit of s#%* from the mom about this.
Now here's the question.
Should I or should I not make a concerted effort to quit swearing? I'm just wondering. Its been a part of my personality and the way that I talk for so long now that I don't even really think about it. I mean, I can abstain from profanity when the situation dictates, but when it doesn't I drop more than a few F-bombs.
Should I stop?

WTF Sarge, we know how it goes but those who have not been where you are may not understand. Personally I think you blog is great but suspect you do make some of your readers uncomfortable. How is that for a wishey washey response to your question, ok, the truth is you are a public man and should be present yourself as the great American you are.
ReplyDeleteif you can't be yourself in your own blog...then what's the point?

Fuck No!
ReplyDeleteLove Mom, but she MOM.
You not cussing is like me throwing out the cuticle cream. Keep it up, Samwell.
ReplyDeleteHell no, be you. It is your blog. Although, I am the first one to tell my 18 year old nephew who drops the F bomb in front of me, to choose a better word he is smarter than that!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the majority. This is your place to vent, swear, joke, whatever. You should not change your writing style for anyone.
ReplyDeleteBe yourself. If someone doesn't like reading how and what you write, it's THEIR choice not to read it. Write, speak and be who you are.
ReplyDeleteQuit being a puss! You have never listened to people before, why start now Sally?

Hi Mudpuppy:
ReplyDeleteThis is your blog - people can choose not to read it. As you stated, you know when to turn it off ( and on) which in my world means: you know your audience. However, some people can be "distracted" by the profanity and miss the message - again this is your blog, so you choose the tone.
