So I ran across this tonight surfing through the endless piles of slop that make up the internets. (No I did not spell it wrong.) And I've been reading, re-reading and pondering, and questioning this for about the last 2 hours. Some Lt. Colonel decided to start telling truth to power, or at least that's what he says he's doing. And his article got an article written about it in Monday's New York Times. Now first of all, if your article has its own article that's pretty fucking impressive. And I have a special place in my heart for the New York Times due to our shared history and despite its hippy leanings.
I'm not quite sure what to make of it yet, but rest assured my opinion will bubble to the surface sooner or later. Hopefully, sooner.

Well. I haven't read it all yet, but all I really have is a great big FUCK. I mean, what's the point of the damn mission/war anyway? You go there for a year and hope to get back home alive and with all your bits still attached. WTF?!
ReplyDeleteI get why the troops are being pulled out a year sooner than originally planned, because why leave them in a year longer when nothing is really being accomplished. But then again, why not freaking pull out right now. I mean it's obviously not doing much good, if any at all. Let them implode by themselves?
We clearly don't have the strength needed to take the country apart and put it back together so it works.
A difficult subject to comment on for sure and an interesting read. Thanks for helping me navigate the interwebs (probably spelled wrong) to these articles.
